Wild Garlic & Basil Pesto

Unbeatable Pesto – so versatile, can be eaten with pasta, as a dip, in a mayo, on toast, the possibilities are endless. The Wild Garlic gives the Pesto such a delicious taste, I usually add garlic clothes to my Pesto anyway but with the Wild Garlic there is no need. All the ingredients in this Pesto are so healthy – a lot of shop bought Pesto’s are full of preservatives, cows milk powder and cheese, absolutely no need when you can make Pesto this tasty in under 5 minutes (not counting the time it’ll take you to forage the Wild Garlic!)

Yield: 1 Cup


60g fresh basil
80g fresh wild garlic
50g spinach
3tbsp toasted pine nuts
2tbsp nutritional yeast
Approx 1tbsp olive oil
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Salt & Pepper to taste


  1. Put a frying pan on a gas stove on a low heat, lightly toast the pine nuts until they are starting to brown – this will release all the delicious flavours of the pine nuts (let them cool before adding to the food processor)
  2. Add all the ingredients to a food processor and whizz until smooth
  3. Season and serve!
